Introduction
The Springfield Explorer is Springfield Secondary School’s unique adaptation of the Ministry of Education’s Student-Initiated Learning (SIL) programme.
Guided by our vision to develop Future-Ready Learners with a Caring Heart and the Confidence to Lead. Springfield Explorer empowers students to take ownership of their learning.
Rooted in our STRIDE values (Service, Tenacity, Respect, Integrity, Diligence, Empathy) the programme encourages students to cultivate curiosity, engage in self-discovery, and apply their skills in authentic, meaningful ways.

Four Learning Domains
Heart – Service to the Community
Fosters compassion, empathy, and active citizenship.
Examples:
Food Bank Singapore – assist in food sorting, packing, or volunteering in outreach and events.
HCA Hospice Care – befriend seniors, engage in creative activities, accompany them to appointments.
Voices for Animals – promote adoptions, foster rescues, or help with operations.
Body – Personal Physical Well-being
Promotes resilience, discipline, and healthy habits.
Examples:
Master the “7 Headstand” for strength and balance.
Learn trending dances like the “Slickback” to improve coordination.
Practice football juggling to build agility and focus.
Mind – Knowledge and Skill
Enhances cognitive abilities, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
Examples:
Play chess for strategic thinking and concentration.
Create games with Scratch to learn coding concepts.
Learn a new language via Busuu to appreciate other cultures.
